Former Al Ahly star Amr Gamal urges club to sign Pyramids executive

Amr Gamal, the former Al Ahly midfielder, has called on his old club to make an immediate move for Pyramids FC’s director of contracts, Amr Bassiouni.

Gamal believes the Egyptian giants have been missing a crucial element in their football operations over recent years, which is quality scouting and recruitment expertise.

“If I worked at Al Ahly, I would sign Amr Bassiouni from Pyramids immediately by any means, because he represents the missing piece at the club,” Gamal said. He praised Bassiouni’s ability to identify top talent at bargain prices, highlighting key signings such as Mohamed El Sheibi, Blati Touré, and Fiston Mayele, all of whom arrived for minimal fees yet delivered outstanding performances.

Former Al Ahly defender Ahmed El Sheikh agreed that Bassiouni is the best in Egypt at recruitment and would be a valuable addition to Al Ahly’s setup. However, ex-Zamalek striker Bassem Morsy disagreed, arguing it would be unreasonable for Al Ahly to try to take every successful figure in Egyptian football, including administrators working at rival clubs.
