Former Al Ahly player, Emad El-Nahhas, has been appointed caretaker coach for the Egyptian giants until the rest of the 2024/25 football season.
He replaces experienced tactician Marcel Koller, who has been relieved of his role.
Al Ahly decided to part ways with head coach Marcel Koller after the side failed to advance to the CAF Champions League final on Friday.
Ahly failed to defend their title after being eliminated by Mamelodi Sundowns in the second leg on Friday night via the away-goals rule at the Cairo International Stadium.
As revealed earlier by AfricaSoccer.com, the club held meetings on Saturday to determine the future of Koller after their painful elimination.
The Swiss tactician won the CAF Champions League twice, while he also guided Al Ahly to two Egyptian Premier League titles.
Following the appointment of Emad El-Nahhas as caretaker coach, Mohamed Shawky has also been named as an assistant coach to help steer the team until the end of the season.
Al Ahly now shifts its focus to the Egyptian Premier League, where they are currently in second place with 40 points.
