Ghana choose Rhode Island as 2026 World Cup base

Ghana Football Association has confirmed that Providence, Rhode Island, will serve as the Black Stars’ training base during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Ghana will prepare for its matches at Bryant University throughout the tournament, which runs from 11 June to 19 July 2026 across the United States, Canada and Mexico.

The decision places the squad close to Gillette Stadium in Massachusetts, where Ghana are scheduled to face England in their second Group L fixture on 23 June.

Bryant University offers extensive facilities, including a 43,000-square-metre indoor complex and a modern recovery and wellness centre.

The training pitches are maintained to a high standard by the same turf specialist responsible for the surface at Gillette Stadium.

The site was chosen following inspections carried out by FIFA and officials from the Ghana Football Association.

The location also has a strong sporting pedigree, having previously served as the training camp for the NFL’s New England Patriots for two decades.

Ghana, making their fifth appearance at a World Cup finals, will begin their Group L campaign against Panama in Toronto on 17 June.

They will then travel to Massachusetts to face England before concluding the group stage against Croatia in Philadelphia on 27 June.

Beyond preparations on the pitch, the Ghana Football Association plans to organise community initiatives in Providence, including programmes aimed at engaging local youth players.

The move is intended to strengthen ties between the national team and the host city during their stay.

With a structured base and proximity to key venues, Ghana hope the Rhode Island camp will provide the stability and focus required for a strong performance on football’s biggest stage.
