Ghana emerged victorious in the 2013 UFOA (Union of West African Federations) football tournament, succeeding Togo as champions. In a closely contested final marked by numerous refereeing disputes, Ghana defeated Senegal 3-1. Kwabena Edusei opened the scoring for Ghana with a penalty in the 2nd minute, but Roger Gomis equalized for Senegal in the 22nd minute. The game remained tight until the 78th minute when Latif Mohammed scored to give Ghana the lead. Despite contested decisions, including offside claims, Kwabena Edusei converted another penalty in the 81st minute to secure Ghana’s 3-1 victory. Togo claimed the third-place spot by defeating Benin 2-1 in an earlier match.
