Stade Gabésien caused a sensation on the first day of the Tunisian Ligue 1 by defeating Stade Tunisien away from home with a score of 4-0. This dominant performance allowed Gabès to take the lead in the standings with a better goal difference. The goals were scored by Marouane Tej (own goal) in the 5th minute, Mohamed Ali Slama in the 9th minute, Saad Bguir in the 73rd minute, and Chedly Ghrab a minute later.
Note that clubs participating in various African cups, such as ES Tunis, CS Sfaxien, ES Sahel, and CA Bizertin, were exempt from this first day. Only five matches were played in total, including the ones mentioned above.
