Senegalese defender Modou Keba Cissé seals domestic double with LASK

Senegalese defender Modou Keba Cissé has completed a memorable season with LASK after helping the Austrian club secure both the league title and the Austrian Cup.

The 19-year-old finished the campaign with domestic silverware following LASK’s 3-0 victory over Austria Wien, a result that confirmed the club as Austrian champions.

The title triumph came only weeks after LASK lifted the Austrian Cup at the beginning of May with a 4-2 win against Altach, sealing an impressive domestic double for the club.

Cissé, a product of the Be Sport Academy, has continued his rapid development in European football during a standout season in Austria.

The young Senegalese defender played his part in a successful campaign that has further strengthened his growing reputation as one of the promising African talents developing on the European stage.

His performances for LASK had already attracted significant attention earlier in the season, leading to a major transfer agreement with Aston Villa.

In July 2025, the Premier League side officially signed Cissé for a reported fee of around €5 million, making him one of the biggest sales in LASK history.

As part of the agreement, the defender remained with the Austrian club on loan for the entire 2025-2026 campaign in order to continue his progression and gain further first-team experience.

That decision has now proved beneficial for both player and club, with Cissé ending the season as a league and cup winner before his expected arrival in England.

The successful campaign represents another important step in the career of the Senegalese youngster, who has adapted quickly to European football since joining LASK.

After helping the Austrian side complete a domestic double, attention is now expected to shift toward the next stage of his development as he prepares to link up with Aston Villa following a breakthrough season in Austria.
