Simon Adingra makes impact as Monaco secure 2-0 success

Simon Adingra continued his fine start to life at Monaco by scoring in a 2-0 Ligue 1 victory over Angers as the Principality club extended their winning sequence.

The Ivorian winger, on loan from Sunderland AFC, made his impact clear at the Stade Louis II during the 24th round of fixtures. Introduced at half-time, he quickly added urgency and directness to Monaco’s attacking play.

Monaco had already edged in front through Folarin Balogun, who broke the deadlock in the 57th minute. With Angers attempting to stay in contention, Adingra ensured the result would not slip away.

Four minutes after the hour mark, the 24-year-old cut inside and produced a curling effort that flew into the far corner beyond the reach of the visiting goalkeeper.

The strike doubled Monaco’s advantage and effectively secured the points for the home side.

The goal was Adingra’s third in just four Ligue 1 appearances, underlining the speed of his adaptation since arriving in early February.

His contribution has added momentum to a team seeking consistency in the latter part of the campaign.

Under the guidance of Sebastien Pocognoli, Monaco have now strengthened their position in the league standings. The victory also helps shift focus away from the disappointment of their recent exit from the Champions League.

For Adingra, the loan move — which includes an option to buy — is already yielding tangible returns. His decisive contributions in front of goal are reinforcing Monaco’s ambitions as they continue their ascent in Ligue 1.
