Issam Jebali inspires Gamba Osaka to Asian Champions League 2 glory
Gamba Osaka have been crowned Asian Champions League 2 winners after a narrow 1–0 victory over Saudi side Al Nassr in Saturday’s final, with Tunisian striker Issam Jebali playing a decisive role in the winning goal.
The Japanese club secured the trophy thanks to a first-half strike from Deniz Hümmet, who converted in the 30th minute after being set up by Jebali. The goal proved to be the only difference between the two sides in a tightly contested final.
Al Nassr pushed in search of an equaliser but were unable to break down a disciplined Gamba Osaka defence, as the Japanese side managed to protect their slender lead through the remainder of the match.
Jebali, who started the final for Gamba Osaka, was heavily involved in the build-up to the decisive moment, providing the assist for Hümmet’s goal. The Tunisian forward’s contribution proved crucial in shaping the outcome of the contest.
The striker was later substituted in the 80th minute after a solid shift leading the line for his side, who continued to manage the game effectively in the closing stages.
Gamba Osaka’s victory secures them continental silverware in the Asian Champions League 2 competition, marking a significant achievement for the Japanese club in a final decided by fine margins.
Al Nassr, meanwhile, were left to reflect on missed opportunities in a match where they struggled to find the breakthrough despite periods of pressure.
For Jebali, the result adds another notable success to his career, with his assist in the final underlining his influence on the biggest stage of the competition as Gamba Osaka claimed the title.
