Zambia will be without their captain, Christopher Katongo, in the friendly match against Egypt due to a contract problem with his Chinese club, Henan Jianye. This marks the second consecutive time Katongo has missed a friendly match for the team. The withdrawal is related to contractual issues, according to Bonnie Mwamelo, head of the Zambian delegation.
The Zambian national team, also known as Chipolopolo, faced challenges assembling a complete team for the match, with the arrival of goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene, Emmanuel Mayuka, and Chisamba Lungu happening at the last minute. Despite these challenges, Zambia is set to play a friendly match against Egypt in Cairo, while Egypt uses this game to prepare for their return match in the 2014 World Cup play-offs against Ghana.
