Morocco, the host country for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN), will enjoy an exemption from the qualifying phase. Instead, friendly matches will be the primary means of preparing the team for the competition. In October, the Atlas Lions played against South Africa as part of the inauguration of the new Agadir stadium.
Another friendly match is in the works for the upcoming month, and coach Rachid Taoussi is in the process of finalizing the squad. He stated, “I am preparing for the friendly match in November. I will publish the list of those summoned in a few days.” Although the opponent is known, the specific details regarding the location and date of the match are yet to be specified.
“It is very likely that we will play a match against Finland in Marrakech or Agadir, but it will surely be in Marrakech,” continued Taoussi, providing insight into the team’s preparation plans to Lionsdelatlas.ma.
