Cameroon to Host Gabon in Friendly Ahead of World Cup Qualifiers
Following the conclusion of the 2017 African Cup of Nations qualifiers against Gambia on September 3, Cameroon has scheduled a friendly against Gabon on September 6. The announcement was made this Monday by officials from the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT).
Having already secured their qualification for Gabon, the Indomitable Lions will use these upcoming matches to prepare for the start of the 2018 World Cup qualifiers, which kick off in October. The friendly against Gabon will take place at the new stadium in Limbe, providing the team with an opportunity to test their squad ahead of the competitive fixtures.
Cameroon has been drawn into a challenging group for the World Cup qualifiers, facing Nigeria, Zambia, and Algeria. Their opening qualifier is against Algeria on October 3, making these preparatory games crucial for fine-tuning tactics and building team cohesion.
The Cameroonian squad will aim to use the friendly as a platform to integrate players, experiment with strategies, and gain momentum ahead of the important qualifiers.
