Ivory Coast has officially submitted its candidacy to host the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) in 2019 and 2021. The Minister of Sports, Alain Lobognon, announced the candidacy on his Twitter account. The Ivorian government has given approval to the Ivorian Football Federation (FIF) to submit an application to the Confederation of African Football (CAF). The government aims to improve existing infrastructures and create suitable conditions for hosting the competition. Private investment will contribute to building the necessary infrastructure, with eight administrative districts selected to house training stadiums, matches, and team accommodations. Ivory Coast previously hosted the AFCON in 1984.
