Two days before the conclusion of the 2013 season in the Burkinabe first division championship, ASFA Yennenga secured their title retention. The Gold and Green clinched their fifth consecutive championship by capitalizing on the defeat of their runner-up, Santos FC, who were beaten 1-0 by RCK on the 28th day of the competition.
This victory marks ASFA Yennenga’s 13th championship title, making them the most successful team in the history of the Burkinabe championship. They equal the impressive achievement of EFO (1990-1994). This title also solidifies their dominance over Etoile Filante de Ouagadougou, who has been stuck at 12 titles since 2008.
ASFA Yennenga’s success in the league complements their achievements earlier in the season, as they had already secured the Coupe du Faso on August 5. The double triumph underscores the team’s outstanding performance throughout the season.
