Footballers across the Brazilian Championship staged demonstrations in the middle of matches to protest against the proposed calendar for the next season. The “Movement Bon Sens FC” initiated the protests, expressing concerns about the congested schedule and warning the federation (CBF) about the potential impact of the World Cup in Brazil on the 2014 season. The players also demanded a guarantee of one month of vacation. Despite threats of yellow cards from the federation, players observed a minute of silence during matches and displayed banners advocating “For better football for all.” This followed a similar demonstration four days earlier, where players embraced each other before kick-off.
