Hadj Moussa credits Vitesse spell for rapid rise

Anis Hadj Moussa says his time at Vitesse Arnhem was decisive in his development, crediting the Dutch club for helping him make rapid progress before establishing himself at Feyenoord.

The Algerian winger has been among the standout performers for Feyenoord this season. Reflecting on his trajectory, he pointed to his loan spell in Arnhem in 2024 as a turning point in his career.

“My time at Vitesse was crucial for me,” Hadj Moussa said in an exclusive interview with Algemeen Dagblad. “I progressed enormously there, and very quickly. I am very grateful to Vitesse.”

Hadj Moussa spent half a season on loan at Vitesse during a campaign in which the club were battling relegation.

Despite the challenging context, his performances attracted attention and paved the way for a permanent move.

Feyenoord subsequently secured his services for a reported fee of around 3.5 million euros from Patro Eisden, where he had previously been under contract.

His first season in Rotterdam offered further opportunities for growth. Hadj Moussa highlighted the influence of a senior team-mate in accelerating his adaptation.

“I have learned a lot, especially from Dávid Hancko, who has always been there for me. I am happy with the progress I have made in a year and a half at Feyenoord, but it is not over yet ,” he said.

The left-footed attacker believes the nature of the Dutch top flight has also suited his style. “There are plenty of opportunities in the Eredivisie, where everyone wants to attack. Dutch football suits me perfectly ,” he concluded.

Now firmly integrated at Feyenoord, Hadj Moussa views his period at Vitesse not simply as a temporary stop, but as a foundational chapter in his development.
