Achraf Dari denied contract exit as Al Ahly SC settle dues
Achraf Dari has failed in his bid to unilaterally terminate his contract with Al Ahly after the Egyptian club paid all outstanding financial dues, preventing his departure on a free transfer.
The Moroccan international had been considering ending his agreement with the Cairo-based side, according to comments previously made by his father and agent, Zouhair Dari, in a telephone interview.
However, Al Ahly responded by transferring the player’s arrears directly into his bank account, effectively closing any legal pathway for unilateral termination.
With that route no longer available, Dari and his representatives turned their attention to a sporting solution that would allow him to secure regular playing time.
The 26-year-old defender has now agreed to join Malmo FF until the end of the current season.
Under the terms of the agreement, Al Ahly will cover the difference in salary to facilitate the move. The arrangement enables Dari to seek competitive minutes without breaching his contractual obligations to the Egyptian club.
The defender’s objective is clear: to rediscover his best form and strengthen his case for a return to the Morocco national team setup ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
Dari’s situation became more complicated in January when he was removed from Al Ahly’s registered squad list to make room for compatriot Youssef Belammari, a left-back recruited from Raja CA.
That decision limited his opportunities and left him facing an uncertain sporting future.
Despite recent injury setbacks, Dari retains an estimated market value of around €1.2m, according to Transfermarkt.
His previous spells in Europe, including with Stade Brestois 29 and Royal Charleroi SC, as well as his earlier time at Wydad AC, continue to enhance his profile.
The move to Sweden represents a fresh opportunity to rebuild momentum while remaining contractually tied to Al Ahly.
