In Togo, the D1 (first division) and D2 (second division) national football championships are set to launch on March 8. The Togolese Football Federation (FTF) has decided to cancel the D2 2012-2013 season. For the D2 competition, 24 teams will participate, including the 20 initially selected for the last season and the four relegated from D1: Koroki, Etoile Filante, Tchaoudjo Athletic Club, and Kotoko. These teams will be divided into two zone groups (north and south), and at the end of the season, two teams will be promoted to the first division. The D1 championship will involve 12 teams, and the current champion is Anges FC. FIFA’s recommendation to gradually professionalize these competitions influenced this decision.
FOOT TOGO: THERE WILL BE 12 CLUBS IN D1 NEXT SEASON!
