Togo has been without a coach since January 16 when Didier Six’s contract expired after two years with the national team. Recent speculations and discussions between the Togolese Football Federation (FTF) and the Ministry of Sports indicate a desire to extend Six’s contract, but the Ministry is still considering its options. While the FTF is exploring alternatives, the Ministry of Sports is patient, considering that the national team’s next major deadline is the start of the CAN 2015 qualifiers in September. FTF President Gabriel Améyi emphasizes the importance of resolving the coaching issue quickly to enhance Togo’s chances of qualifying for CAN 2015. Despite the urgency expressed by the FTF, there might not be a rush to appoint a new coach before June, according to observers. The national team currently lacks an official opponent for the FIFA date of March 5.
