More turmoil strikes the Togolese Football Federation (FTF) as a key resignation shakes its Executive Office. Just six months before the end of its mandate, a significant departure has occurred.
Tino Adjété, the 2nd vice-president of the FTF, expressed his disillusionment in a letter addressed to the president, Gabriel Améyi. Adjété, also the president of Tigre Noir Zéphyr, a D2 club, cited the disintegration of hope for Togolese football’s recovery under Améyi’s leadership as the reason for his resignation.
In his letter, Adjété highlighted the erosion of FIFA Standard Statutes’ mandatory requirements and criticized Améyi’s management practices, which he believed damaged the integrity and reputation of Togolese football. Despite numerous appeals and trust placed in Améyi’s judgment, Adjété’s concerns went unheeded, leading to his decision to step down.
Adjété’s resignation, seen by some as a strategic move, hints at a potential candidacy for the FTF presidency. He has long harbored aspirations for this position, and his resignation might signal the beginning of his campaign. Additionally, vice-president Hervé Piza has also raised concerns about dysfunctions within the FTF.
As the FTF faces this crisis, questions loom over its future direction and leadership stability.
