Hassan Benabicha has been named the head coach of the local Moroccan national football team. His primary responsibility is to guide the team in the upcoming African Nations Championship (CHAN), scheduled to take place from January 11 to February 1, 2014, in South Africa.
Following his appointment, Benabicha, who was previously honored as the best Moroccan coach of the year, shared his thoughts on Radiomars. Expressing his pride, he stated that coaching the national team is a great honor. Regarding the CHAN tournament, he mentioned that he has selected players based on their outstanding performances during the initial 14 days of the championship.
Benabicha has a successful track record, having led the U20s to victory at the Islamic Games and securing a silver medal at the Francophonie Games.
The Atlas Lions are set to commence their CHAN campaign on January 12 against Zimbabwe in Cape Town, followed by matches against Burkina Faso on January 16 and Uganda on January 20. Morocco is placed in Group A alongside Zimbabwe, Burkina Faso, and Uganda.
