The President of the Ivorian Football Federation (FIF), Augustin Sidy Diallo, expressed his dissatisfaction with the process surrounding the resignation of Michel Brizoua-Bi, president of the Legal Affairs Commission of the FIF.
Diallo criticized Brizoua-Bi for not involving him in the decision-making process and for making the content of his resignation letter public through the press before informing Diallo himself. In a press release published on the official FIF website, Diallo stated that Brizoua-Bi’s actions breached ethical standards, especially as a lawyer, by disclosing a confidential letter addressed to the institution he served for a decade.
While acknowledging Brizoua-Bi’s resignation, Diallo stated that he would inform the Executive Committee at its next session in mid-May 2014. Following this session, the Executive Committee would arrange for the replacement of Brizoua-Bi, subject to ratification by the Ordinary General Assembly of the FIF, scheduled to take place after the 2014 World Cup.
Brizoua-Bi announced his resignation from the FIF Legal Affairs Commission in a letter dated Friday, May 2, where he criticized the failures observed in the functioning of the FIF Executive Committee.
