FIFA has decided to extend the mandate of the Normalization Committee overseeing FEGAFOOT (Gabonese Football Federation) until March 31, 2014. This extension comes after the invalidation of Jean de Dieu Moukagni Iwangou’s election, and it is the second time the committee’s mandate has been extended. As a result, the scheduled elections for December 28 are canceled. There are speculations that the State may want to influence the elections and place its candidate, with suspicions surrounding Pierre Alain Mouguengui and Jean de Dieu Moukagni Iwangou, who have announced their candidacy but might not have the support of the authorities.
