Joseph Owona, the president of the Standardization Committee of the Cameroonian football federation, has denied accusations of seeking an extension of the committee’s mandate beyond March 31, 2014. According to Owona, no such letter has been sent, and he challenges anyone to provide a copy of the alleged correspondence. He believes it is premature and ridiculous to discuss an extension before March 2014.
Owona expressed concern that the attributed intentions could disrupt the peaceful preparation of the national team for the World Cup. He suggests that there are agitated actions by certain circles aiming to manage funds generated by Cameroon’s participation in the World Cup. Owona also criticizes journalists, referring to them as “flibustiers of the pen and the intoxication.”
