Florentino: Hull City eye move for Burnley and Portugal midfielder

Florentino, the Portugal and Angola defensive midfielder currently at Burnley, is being linked with a move to Premier League side Hull City. The 26-year-old, who wears the number 16 shirt at Turf Moor, is understood to be on Hull’s shortlist as they look to reinforce the base of their midfield following promotion.

Hull’s interest comes after Florentino experienced relegation from the top flight with Burnley in the 2025-26 season, a campaign that ended with the Lancashire club dropping into the Championship. He returned to Burnley on a permanent deal on 1 July 2026 from Benfica for a fee of €24 million, having spent the previous season on loan at Turf Moor.

Florentino’s current market valuation stands at around €16 million and any deal would likely need to reflect both that figure and Burnley’s investment earlier this summer. There is no indication yet that an agreement is close, with Burnley in a strong position to negotiate following his recent transfer.

The Lobito-born midfielder has accumulated significant top-flight experience in Portugal and England, including more than 30 Premier League appearances and regular minutes in Liga Portugal. He also has Champions League and Europa League football on his CV, as well as two Portuguese league titles with Benfica, most recently in the 2022-23 season.

Florentino has no publicly confirmed contract end date at Burnley, and the club are not under immediate pressure to sell, but Hull’s interest adds a fresh dimension to his situation just weeks after his permanent return to English football.
