Borussia Dortmund could receive a timely boost as fit-again attacker Karim Adeyemi is poised to return to action when the team faces TSG Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga on Sunday.
The 22-year-old, who has been sidelined since October with a muscle injury, was an unused substitute in Dortmund’s midweek Champions League defeat to Barcelona.
Adeyemi has shown promising form despite limited appearances this season, with three assists and two goals in just five Bundesliga matches. He also leads the team in chances created, making his return a significant lift for Dortmund’s struggling campaign.
“Karim already wanted to play against Barcelona,” said head coach Nuri Sahin. “He’s training very well, looks fresh, and is definitely a candidate for the last two games of the year.”
Dortmund’s squad has been plagued by injuries, with defenders Nico Schlotterback, Niklas Sule, and Waldemar Anton all unavailable. Meanwhile, the participation of Julian Ryerson, Julian Brandt, and Maximilian Beier remains uncertain.
Currently sitting sixth in the Bundesliga with 21 points from 13 matches, Dortmund has endured their worst league start in seven years.
Karim Adeyemi’s return could be the spark Dortmund needs to reignite their season as they aim for a strong finish before the winter break.
