Fiston Mayele: DR Congo striker joins Libya’s Al-Ahli on a free transfer

Fiston Mayele has joined Libyan Premier League club Al-Ahli from Egypt’s Pyramids FC on a free transfer, giving the Democratic Republic of Congo centre-forward a new chapter in Libya at the age of 32.

Mayele leaves Pyramids after his spell in Egypt’s Premier League and moves into the Libyan top flight. The switch takes him between two North African football leagues, with Al-Ahli becoming his latest club following his time in Cairo.

The forward’s arrival adds an experienced international player to Al-Ahli’s squad. Mayele’s position is listed as centre-forward, placing him in the central attacking role for the Libyan club.

The deal was completed without a transfer fee, ending Mayele’s association with Pyramids FC. His move also represents a change of national football environment, from Egypt’s Premier League to the Libyan Premier League.

Mayele is a player from the Democratic Republic of Congo, a nationality that has helped define his international football identity while his club career has taken him across African leagues. At 32, he arrives at Al-Ahli as an established senior forward rather than a developing player.

Al-Ahli confirmed the move on 19 August 2026, with Mayele joining the club as it competes in Libya’s top division. The transfer links a striker leaving one of Egypt’s leading domestic competitions with a side operating in the Libyan Premier League.

For Pyramids FC, the deal marks the departure of a centre-forward who had been part of their squad in Egypt. For Al-Ahli, it brings in a player with recent experience of the Egyptian top flight and a defined role at the head of the attack.

The move is a straightforward free transfer, with no loan arrangement involved and no fee attached to Mayele’s switch. The available transfer details do not include the length of his contract with Al-Ahli.

Mayele’s change of club is therefore also a change of league and country, taking him from Egypt to Libya as Al-Ahli’s new centre-forward. He completed the move on 19 August 2026.
