Firas Al-Buraikan transfer dilemma puts Al Ahli’s summer plans on alert

Firas Al-Buraikan’s future has become one of the most uncertain issues at Al Ahli, with Al Hilal and Al Qadsiah reportedly monitoring the Saudi Arabia striker ahead of the new season.

The player is not understood to be pushing for a move away from Al Ahli. Instead, the growing speculation is being driven by the circumstances surrounding the club, which could make one of its most important players an attractive target for financially powerful rivals.

Al-Buraikan was offered to Al Hilal during the most recent winter transfer window. However, the club chose not to proceed with the deal because it did not have the required budget available at the time, despite a number of officials being convinced by the striker’s ability.

The striker has a release clause worth 45 million Saudi riyals. While that is a substantial figure, it is not considered beyond the reach of clubs with significant financial resources, particularly if they believe Al-Buraikan would provide a major footballing addition to their plans.

For Al Ahli, the issue is therefore not simply that another club has shown interest in one of its players. Attention from rivals is a natural consequence of having a leading performer in the squad. The greater concern is the uncertainty that has recently surrounded the club, both in relation to the coaching staff and the wider administrative environment.

That instability could give other clubs an opportunity to test Al Ahli’s resolve. Continued uncertainty over the club’s direction may also make it harder to convince the striker that he remains central to its next project, although there is no suggestion in the report that he has demanded a transfer.

Al Ahli’s management must now move quickly to bring clarity to the situation. One option would be to reaffirm its faith in Al-Buraikan and offer him a more prominent role in the club’s new project. Another would be to make its determination to keep him publicly and unmistakably clear.

Allowing the matter to drift could increase the pressure as the start of the new season approaches. With Al Hilal potentially reconsidering a move, Al Qadsiah interested and a 45 million Saudi riyal release clause in place, Al-Buraikan’s position has become a potentially explosive issue for Al Ahli.

The club’s priority will be to prevent the uncertainty from developing into a full transfer crisis before the campaign begins.
