Serie A side Fiorentina have set their sights on Ghana defender Tariq Lamptey as they look to bolster their squad for the new Italian football season, which kicks off this weekend.
The 23-year-old right back is being considered as a backup to Brazilian defender Dodo.
Known for his blistering pace, technical ability, and attacking runs down the right flank, Lamptey offers dynamism despite not being physically imposing.
Lamptey’s 2024/25 campaign at Brighton & Hove Albion was hampered by recurring injuries, limiting him to just 15 appearances, during which he scored twice and registered assists.
He did not feature in Brighton’s season opener against Fulham last weekend.
Since leaving Chelsea for the Seagulls, Lamptey has made a total of 104 appearances, contributing three goals and proving himself a valuable asset on the right side of defence.
Fiorentina appear ready to tap into his experience and attacking flair as they prepare for a competitive Serie A season.
Meanwhile, La Viola will open their campaign with an away game against Cagliari at the Unipol Domus.
