PSG Hits Back at Rummenigge Over Financial Fair Play Criticism
Tensions flared during a UEFA meeting in Nyon as Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi responded forcefully to harsh criticism from Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. The German executive had openly questioned PSG’s compliance with Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules and even called for sanctions.
Al-Khelaïfi, joined by club CEO Jean-Claude Blanc, defended PSG vigorously during the discussion. According to a source close to UEFA, “The exchange was very tense with Rummenigge. But the Nasser/Jean-Claude Blanc duo was very relevant and convincing.”
Reported by RMC Sport, PSG’s stance is not against the principle of financial fair play itself, but insists that any enforcement must ensure fairness and equal treatment for all clubs, regardless of ownership models or market size.
This public spat highlights growing tensions among Europe’s elite over FFP, especially as new footballing powers challenge traditional heavyweights.
