Veteran broadcaster, Fiifi Banson, made his much-awaited return to radio on Monday when the late afternoon show on recently-launched SportyFM premiered.

Banson, whose last stint on radio came almost a decade ago, took to the airwaves like he never left as the Sporty Drive introduced Ghana’s first ever sports drivetime show.

With football administrator Kudjoe Fianoo and ex-Black Stars player Augustine Ahinful as guests, Banson – affectionately called The Dynamite — brought back memories of his charismatic and energetic style, while introducing youthful segments for the current generation.

“The plan was for a happier show, but we had to change it because of the trending news involving the Kotoko supporter who died at a league match on Sunday,” Banson said.

“However, I am thrilled that the same desire I have always had to inform and entertain my audience still burns brightly. I’m looking forward to a great time!”

On his part, Gary Al-Smith, Regional Content Lead at the Sporty Group, expressed excitement at the welcome Banson received from audiences.

“When someone is away for as long as The Dynamite has, there is the temptation to think he will be forgotten, which is why we are ecstatic at the show of happiness across town and on digital media. We are glad Mr. Banson is back.”

Banson’s SportyDrive can be heard every Monday – Friday, 4:00pm – 6:50pm on SportyFM 106.1MHz in Accra, 102.5MHz in Takoradi and 91.3 FM in Kumasi.
