Lionel Messi is currently in Dakar, Senegal, while facing allegations of tax fraud by the Spanish justice system. The Barcelona striker, along with his father, was indicted in this case a few days ago.
According to the Spanish newspaper El Mundo, Messi is in negotiations with the Spanish administration to reach an agreement that would prevent a trial. The report suggests that Messi and his father have agreed to pay a fine of 15 million euros to avoid prosecution.
The tax fraud allegations involve the embezzlement of more than 4 million euros in image rights collected between 2007 and 2009. The Messi family had already paid 10 million euros as part of the case. Both Lionel Messi and his father were indicted and were initially scheduled to appear in court on September 17.
