‘Fight every minute’ – Dominic Solanke calls on Tottenham to respond in relegation scrap

Tottenham Hotspur forward Dominic Solanke has issued a rallying call to his teammates, urging them to “fight every minute” as the club grapples with an unexpected Premier League relegation battle.

The North London side’s precarious position was underlined by a damaging 3-1 defeat to Crystal Palace on Thursday, a result that has intensified pressure on the squad with the season entering a critical phase.

Spurs now sit just a single point above the relegation zone, a scenario few associated with a club of their stature at the start of the campaign.

With a daunting trip to Anfield against Liverpool FC looming in their next league fixture, the sense of urgency within the Tottenham camp has grown significantly. The loss to Crystal Palace not only dented morale but also forced the players to confront the harsh reality of their situation.

Solanke, speaking candidly after the match, revealed that the squad had already begun addressing the crisis internally, holding frank discussions about the team’s alarming slide down the table.

“We’ve just had a big conversation,” the striker told TNT Sports.

The 28-year-old acknowledged that Tottenham’s current predicament is far from acceptable for a club accustomed to competing at the upper end of the table. Yet he insisted that the only solution lies in collective responsibility and improved performances on the pitch.

“We know the position we are in is definitely not where we want to be so we need to figure out how we are going to get out of it as soon as possible.

“We’re not in a position to make any excuses anymore. We need to do the job on the pitch.

“We know the club is not used to being in this position, so we need to understand it’s not going to be easy.

“We need to fight every single game, every single minute, to make sure we improve.”

Tottenham’s struggles this season have been marked by defensive lapses, inconsistent form and a lack of cutting edge in crucial moments. Those issues were again evident in the defeat that left them hovering dangerously close to the bottom three.

For Solanke, however, the path forward is clear: resolve, unity and a relentless mindset until safety is secured. The forward believes the team must embrace the battle rather than shy away from it.
