Morocco have closed out 2025 as Africa’s highest-ranked national team, finishing the year 11th in the latest FIFA Men’s World Rankings released on FIFA’s official website.
While the Atlas Lions continue to dominate the African standings, Ghana’s Black Stars end the year ranked 72nd globally. Ghana also placed 14th on the African rankings, with both their world and continental positions unchanged from the November update.
Despite the lack of movement in the most recent rankings, the Black Stars’ year-end position represents a slight improvement compared to December 2024, when they were placed 77th in the world.
At the summit of the global rankings, Spain finished 2025 as the world’s top-ranked national team. Argentina follow closely in second place, with France occupying third. England and Brazil round out the top five, while Portugal, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and Croatia complete the top ten.
In Africa, Morocco retain their place as the continent’s leading side heading into the end of the year. Senegal remain second, with Algeria, Egypt and Nigeria completing the top five African teams in the latest FIFA rankings.
