In a world frequently marked by divisions, football remains a universal symbol of togetherness. In 2025, FIFA is inaugurating World Football Week, a new global festival from 21–25 May, themed: “Together, We Are Stronger.”
World Football Week builds on World Football Day (25 May), established by a United Nations resolution to honor football’s vast global influence — promoting peace, strengthening communities, and generating economic growth.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino, unveiling the initiative, highlighted football’s unmatched ability to bridge cultures and backgrounds.
“Football belongs to everyone. No matter your origin, the pitch is a place where we all speak the same language,” he remarked.
Throughout the week, fans worldwide are invited to engage in playing, watching, and sharing football moments — from casual matches with friends to public viewing parties and community gatherings.
Everyone is encouraged to share their experiences on social media using #WorldFootballWeek and tagging @fifa (Instagram) or @fifacom (X).
To assist participants, FIFA has launched a free World Football Week Toolkit, offering event ideas, ready-made social media posts, and tips for organizing inclusive activities — making it accessible to everyone, regardless of experience.
The celebration concludes on 25 May with UN World Football Day, marking the anniversary of the 1924 Olympic Football Tournament — the first truly international football event — and FIFA’s pivotal 1928 decision in Amsterdam to establish the FIFA World Cup™.
Major FIFA partners, including Aramco, adidas, Coca-Cola, Hyundai/Kia, Lenovo, Qatar Airways, and Visa, are proudly backing the initiative, underscoring football’s spirit of unity, passion, and resilience.
As fields across the globe come alive with the sound of the game, World Football Week is a vibrant reminder: Football is more than a sport — it’s a global language of solidarity and hope.
