FIFA has made changes to Ismaily SC’s two-period transfer ban, allowing the Egyptian club some relief as they navigate a tense legal battle.
In an official letter sent to the club, FIFA confirmed that the Club World Cup’s exceptional transfer window, from June 1 to 10, counted toward the enforcement of Ismaily’s penalty.
This means Ismaily’s second and final restricted window will now run from June 11 to August 12, 2025. Once that ends, the club will be free to register new players again.
The penalty stems from unpaid debts owed to several former players and coaches. However, the club is hoping for a lifeline from the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), which is expected to issue a decision soon.
Ismaily had appealed FIFA’s ruling and filed a request for urgent measures, asking for the penalty’s implementation to be suspended.
The outcome of the CAS decision will determine whether Ismaily can reinforce its squad sooner or must endure the full length of the FIFA-imposed restriction.
