FIFA will host a two-day seminar in Algiers on April 9 and 10, 2025, focusing on the professionalization of football within Algeria’s top-tier league structure.

The initiative, announced by the Algerian Football Federation (FAF) on its official website, will bring together key figures from the country’s footballing landscape.

Attending the event will be presidents and general secretaries from all 16 Ligue 1 clubs, along with senior executives from the FAF.

The seminar will be led and supervised by representatives of FIFA, and will offer a platform for detailed discussions on essential components of club and league management.

According to the FAF, the agenda will span critical areas such as governance, financial management, business development strategies, and the organization of domestic competitions.

The overarching aim is to equip local football leaders with the knowledge and tools necessary to operate sustainably and effectively within the modern football environment.

A central theme of the sessions will be the long-term structural development of professional football in Algeria. Presentations are expected to highlight best practices adopted globally, as well as examine ways to adapt international models to the Algerian context.

In doing so, the federation hopes to foster a deeper understanding among club executives of how modern football enterprises are built and maintained—both on the sporting front and from a commercial standpoint.

The FAF underlined that this seminar forms part of a broader, ongoing commitment to the modernization of Algerian football. Over the past few years, the federation has emphasized the importance of guiding clubs through a sustainable growth process, which not only enhances performance on the pitch but also builds resilience off it.

By involving FIFA directly in this latest step, the FAF signals its intent to align more closely with global standards and practices.

The governing body views education and knowledge-sharing as vital to the transformation of domestic football, and believes this seminar can be a key milestone in that journey.

Algeria’s Ligue 1 clubs have long been urged to adopt more professional approaches to club management. Challenges have ranged from limited financial oversight and infrastructure gaps to difficulties in commercial development and player retention.

Through targeted workshops and expert-led sessions, the seminar is expected to address these issues head-on, while also providing a forum for dialogue between club leaders and international advisors.

The event is likely to serve as a stepping stone toward broader reform, with the FAF hoping to see tangible improvements in how clubs are run following the seminar.

FIFA’s involvement is also anticipated to lend credibility and momentum to these efforts, encouraging Algerian clubs to move more decisively toward international standards of operation.

As the Algerian football community prepares to gather in the capital for this pivotal meeting, expectations are high that it will mark the beginning of a new phase in the country’s footballing evolution—one defined by professional governance, financial responsibility, and a more competitive domestic league.
