FIFA will carry out a new round of inspection visits in November and December as preparations continue for the 2030 World Cup in Morocco, Spain and Portugal.
Six Moroccan cities are included in this stage of the selection process: Agadir, Casablanca, Fes, Marrakech, Rabat and Tanger. FIFA officials will assess the infrastructure in each location and review the progress made towards hosting matches at the tournament.
According to a statement published on FIFA’s official website, the delegation will include representatives from several operational areas. During their visits, they will inspect the stadiums proposed as venues and examine the sports facilities, operational plans and wider infrastructure required to stage a competition of this scale.
The inspections will also involve meetings with local, regional and national authorities. FIFA representatives are expected to speak to stadium operators, transport and mobility providers, accommodation services and other partners involved in the project.
Those discussions will allow FIFA to compare the details in the host cities’ bids with conditions on the ground. The visits will also be used to assess the progress of preparations and identify any changes that may be needed to meet the organisation’s requirements.
Morocco, Spain and Portugal have already identified the cities they are putting forward as candidates. However, the final list of cities and stadiums to be selected has not yet been confirmed.
The distribution of matches between the proposed venues also remains undecided. The number of games awarded to each city, as well as the importance of those matches within the tournament schedule, will depend on FIFA’s final decisions.
