FIFA has signed an agreement to install 30 mini football pitches, known as FIFA Arena, across Morocco, according to a statement shared by FIFA President Gianni Infantino on social media on Thursday.
Infantino explained that the project is aimed at providing safe and sustainable access to football while delivering a positive social impact within local communities. He described the initiative as one that goes “beyond the pitch,” emphasising its role in nurturing ambition, hope, and learning opportunities for young people through sport.
The FIFA President expressed gratitude to key Moroccan officials and partners for their collaboration on the project. Among those acknowledged were Fouzi Lekjaa, President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation and a member of the FIFA Council, as well as Mohamed Saad Berrada, Morocco’s Minister of National Education, Preschool and Sports.
Infantino also thanked Mostafa Terrab, Chairman and CEO of the OCP Group, for his support.
The FIFA Arena initiative is designed to strengthen grassroots football by creating accessible and inclusive playing spaces, particularly for children and young people.
Infantino noted that the mini-pitches are expected to contribute to broader community development while encouraging participation in football within a safe and welcoming environment.
The project comes at a time when Morocco continues to consolidate its status as a major football hub, both in Africa and on the global stage.
This follows the country’s successful hosting of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and its selection as a co-host of the 2030 FIFA World Cup alongside Spain and Portugal, underlining its significant investment in sports infrastructure and youth development initiatives.
