FIFA will hold the fourth edition of The Best Awards on September 23 in Milan, Italy, continuing its annual celebration of excellence in world football. This year, the ceremony will feature two new accolades, expanding the recognition of outstanding achievements in the women’s game.

The newly introduced awards are The Best FIFA Women’s Goalkeeper and the FIFA FIFPro Women’s World11. These join the nine existing categories, which include FIFA Men’s Player, FIFA Women’s Player, FIFA Men’s Coach, FIFA Women’s Coach, FIFA Goalkeeper, the Puskás Award, the Fan Award, the Fair Play Award, and the FIFA Men’s World11. By adding these new categories, FIFA further highlights the growing prominence and quality of women’s football on the global stage.

Last year’s ceremony saw Croatian midfielder Luka Modric and Brazilian forward Marta claim the top individual honors, winning the FIFA Men’s Player and FIFA Women’s Player awards respectively. Their victories recognized exceptional performances over the previous season and set the benchmark for excellence heading into this year’s awards.

The Best Awards continue to celebrate footballing talent across all levels, honoring players, coaches, and teams who have made a significant impact on the game, while the inclusion of the new women’s awards demonstrates FIFA’s ongoing commitment to promoting and recognizing achievements in women’s football.
