FIFA RANKING: NO BIG CHANGE, IVORY COAST STILL DOMINATES AFRICA

FIFA, the International Federation of Association Football, released its initial world rankings of the year on Thursday, showing minimal changes in the Top 25, with Spain maintaining its position at the pinnacle.

Within the African continent, Ivory Coast retains its leading position, securing the 17th spot globally. Following closely are Ghana (24th) and Algeria (27th). These three nations are set to compete in the upcoming World Cup in Brazil in six months. Egypt exhibits a notable climb of 10 places, securing the 4th position in Africa and the 31st spot worldwide. Cape Verde rounds out the African Top 5, holding the 35th position globally.

Venturing further down the rankings, Nigeria, another World Cup-bound team, takes the 7th spot in Africa and the 41st position globally, surpassing Mali (40th in the world). Cameroon, the fifth African country qualified for the World Cup, secures the 9th position in Africa and the 50th spot globally, closely trailing Tunisia (44th).

South Africa completes the African Top 10, securing the 54th position globally.
