FIFA has imposed a $160,000 fine on Zamalek SC in favor of Belgian coach Yannick Ferreira, who previously led the Egyptian club.

The decision comes after prolonged disputes over unpaid financial dues owed to Ferreira following his departure from the team.

The Belgian coach had been entitled to full payment under his contract, but Zamalek’s management had earlier negotiated a settlement allowing him to receive only half of the remaining amount at the time, citing financial constraints.

Sources close to the club indicate that efforts will intensify in the coming days to reach an amicable resolution and ensure the settlement is fully honored.

During his tenure with Zamalek, Yannick Ferreira managed 13 matches across domestic and continental competitions, recording seven wins, four draws, and two losses. Despite a promising start, a downturn in results, particularly in the Egyptian Premier League, led to his dismissal in November 2025.

Following his exit from Zamalek, Ferreira has been appointed by Belgian side Dender, marking his first return to coaching since leaving the Cairo-based club.

His new role at Dender will see him take charge of the team’s technical strategy as they aim to strengthen their performance in the upcoming fixtures.

The FIFA ruling not only underscores the importance of honoring contractual agreements but also signals the global governing body’s willingness to intervene in financial disputes involving clubs and coaches.

For Zamalek, the ruling adds to ongoing pressures as the club seeks to stabilize its management and maintain competitiveness on the domestic and continental stages.

Efforts to settle the payment are expected to be prioritized in the next few days, with club officials reportedly exploring immediate solutions to comply with FIFA’s directive and avoid further sanctions.
