FIFA has imposed a transfer ban on Tanzanian football giants, Young Africans SC (Yanga), following their failure to comply with a financial ruling in favour of their former Ghanaian player, Augustine Okrah.
The decision stems from a previous case (Ref No. FPSD-15711), where FIFA mandated Yanga to settle outstanding financial obligations owed to the player.
Despite the ruling, the club has yet to fulfil its payment responsibilities, prompting FIFA to act.
In an official letter dated November 11, 2024, FIFA’s Disciplinary Committee, led by Head of Disciplinary Américo Espalargas, confirmed the international registration ban on Yanga The sanction prohibits the club from registering new players internationally until the full amount owed to Okrah is paid.
Furthermore, FIFA has requested the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) to enforce a similar registration ban at the national level to ensure compliance.
This development could have significant implications for Yanga’s ambitions in both domestic and international competitions.
With the mid-season transfer window approaching, the ban could hinder the club’s ability to strengthen its squad.
The situation serves as a stark reminder of the importance of honouring contractual and financial commitments.
For Yanga, resolving the matter promptly is critical to restoring their operational flexibility and safeguarding their reputation on the global stage.
