FIFA has dealt another blow to Zamalek SC after imposing a new financial penalty on the Egyptian club, which is already grappling with a severe financial crisis.

The Cairo-based side has been struggling financially in recent months, particularly after authorities withdrew the land allocated for the club’s branch project in 6th of October City.

The project had been considered a major potential source of revenue for the club.

Zamalek has also faced difficulties settling outstanding payments owed to former players, coaches, and clubs from which it signed players.

These unpaid obligations have resulted in several sanctions, including transfer bans and additional financial penalties.

In the latest development, Zamalek received official correspondence from FIFA confirming a fine of $160,000 to be paid to Belgian coach Yannick Ferreira.

The Belgian manager was appointed by Zamalek last summer but was dismissed in November following a run of disappointing results.

Club officials had previously reached an agreement with Ferreira to settle the matter by paying only half of his contractual dues instead of the full remaining value of his contract.

However, the club failed to honour the agreed settlement, which led to FIFA’s decision to enforce the payment.

During his short spell in charge, Ferreira managed Zamalek in 13 matches across all competitions. The team recorded seven victories, four draws, and two defeats under his leadership.
