Wydad Casablanca coach Amine Benhachem is considering starting Ghanaian striker Samuel Obeng in their opening Club World Cup match against Manchester City on Wednesday.
Although the team recently strengthened their attack by signing Syrian forward Omar Al-Somah from the Saudi league, Benhachem opted to begin with Obeng, who joined the club during the winter transfer window.
Insiders revealed that the decision was influenced by Obeng’s strong finish to the Moroccan league season, his hat-trick in a recent 7-0 friendly win over Canadian side Saint Laurent, and his excellent physical condition suited for a high-intensity match.
Al-Somah is expected to come on in the second half and will be one of Benhachem’s key attacking options throughout the tournament.
The match is set to kick off at 16:00 GMT at Lincoln Financial Field.
