Wydad Casablanca head coach Mohamed Amine Benhachem and team doctor Abdelrazak Hefti were involved in a serious car accident in the United States of America while on official duty with the club.
According to a statement released by the Moroccan side, the incident occurred on Monday and involved several members of the team’s delegation, including Youssef Dabbagh and technical staff member Ali.
Benhachem’s vehicle reportedly flipped over during the crash, but fortunately, all those involved sustained no life-threatening injuries.
The club confirmed that those injured were quickly transported to a nearby hospital for treatment and are currently in stable condition.
Wydad reassured supporters that there is no cause for alarm, as everyone affected is receiving proper medical care.
“A traffic accident occurred this morning, Monday, US time, in which coach Amin Benhachem was involved, in addition to Youssef Dabbagh, Dr. Abdel Razzaq Hefti, and technical staff Ali.”
In its official communication, Wydad expressed gratitude to emergency services and FIFA representatives for their swift and professional response following the incident.
Meanwhile, Wydad Casablanca’s campaign at the FIFA Club World Cup has been disappointing. The team was eliminated after defeats to Manchester City and Juventus.
They are scheduled to face Al Ain of the United Arab Emirates in a final group game on Thursday, a match that will serve only to determine final group standings.
