Club World Cup: ES Sétif Ready to Represent Africa with Pride
With MA Tétouan already eliminated from the FIFA Club World Cup, all African hopes now rest on Entente Sportive de Sétif. The reigning African champions will make their tournament debut this Saturday against Auckland City of New Zealand — the very team that ousted Moroccan champions Tétouan.
Speaking to the Algerian media, Sétif coach Kheireddine Madoui expressed his confidence and ambition ahead of the challenge:
“We believe in the feat, and as a match lasts 90 or 120 minutes, everything is possible. Our supreme objective in this event is to try to reproduce the scenario of Raja Casablanca and TP Mazembe, who had reached the final of this competition in previous editions.”
Madoui, one of the youngest coaches to win the CAF Champions League, knows the task won’t be easy, but believes in his squad’s mental strength and competitive spirit:
“Our players are now aware that nothing is impossible in football. They have developed the strength to go to the coalface and challenge any team after having managed to overcome all obstacles during the previous Champions League.”
Having conquered Africa, ES Sétif now sets its sights on making a deep run in the Club World Cup, inspired by the unforgettable journeys of TP Mazembe in 2010 and Raja Casablanca in 2013. The Black Eagles are ready to rise again—this time, on the world stage.
