FIFA has officially lifted Zamalek’s suspension, allowing the Egyptian giants to resume normal operations after months of uncertainty.
The global football body removed the club’s name from the list of sanctioned teams after settling outstanding payments owed to two former employees.
Zamalek’s suspension had stemmed from unpaid dues to ex-Moroccan striker Khaled Boutaib and former Portuguese coach Jaime Pacheco. The matter was resolved this week, with Pacheco’s lawyer confirming in writing on Wednesday that his client had received all his financial entitlements.
This decision clears the path for Zamalek to re-enter the transfer market, a key boost as they chase domestic success. The Cairo-based club currently sits third in the Egyptian Premier League standings with 41 points.
However, several other Egyptian sides remain under FIFA sanctions. Clubs like Pharco, Pyramids, Ismaily, Aswan, Eastern Company, Enppi, and Wadi Degla continue to face transfer bans due to unsettled financial issues.
Zamalek’s clearance is a positive step for Egyptian football, with fans hoping it sparks a renewed charge in the league and stability behind the scenes.
