FIFA: BLATTER “BRAZIL WILL ORGANIZE AN EXTRAORDINARY WORLD CUP”

Blatter

Sepp Blatter recently visited San José, Costa Rica, to attend the Women’s Under-17 World Cup. When questioned about the upcoming FIFA World Cup in Brazil, the FIFA president expressed confidence in the country’s ability to host a successful event.

Blatter emphasized Brazil’s rich footballing culture, referring to it as the “country of the beautiful game” and highlighting its reputation for playing the best football globally. Despite acknowledging delays in some stadium constructions, Blatter remained optimistic about the overall organization of the tournament.

He attributed the delays to years of inactivity since Brazil was awarded the hosting rights and stressed that these issues are not uncommon in the final stages of preparation for major events. Blatter also addressed safety concerns, particularly referencing the tragic death of a worker at the São Paulo stadium. He emphasized the contractor’s responsibility to ensure worker safety and clarified that FIFA cannot be held accountable for such incidents.

In summary, while acknowledging challenges, Blatter expressed confidence in Brazil’s ability to deliver an extraordinary World Cup.
