The Tunisian Football Federation announced on Tuesday that it had received approval from FIFA, the international governing body for football, to postpone the local federation elections until May 20th.
In a statement issued by the Tunisian Football Federation, it was stated: “The Tunisian federation received correspondence from FIFA, extending the term of the current federation bureau and related committees until no later than May 20th.”
The Tunisian federation clarified in its statement: “A copy of FIFA’s correspondence has been forwarded to the Independent Electoral Commission of the Tunisian Football Federation to commit to and prepare the new electoral process within the renewed deadlines, which will be announced.”
The Appeals Committee of the Tunisian Football Federation had previously rejected all candidate lists for the federation elections for the period from 2024 to 2028, before the elections, which were scheduled for March 9th, were postponed.
