Ferran Torres says he is waiting to make the ‘right decision’ on his Barcelona future
Ferran Torres says he has yet to decide whether he will remain at Barcelona, adding that he is waiting to make the right choice about the next stage of his career.
The Spain international, who remains under contract with Barcelona, addressed speculation about his future during an interview with NBC. Reports have suggested that Paris Saint-Germain are interested in signing him for the 2026-27 season.
“I have a contract with Barcelona, but in football you never know what will happen. I am just waiting to make the right decision,” Torres said.
Torres has emerged from the 2026 World Cup as one of Spain’s central figures after scoring the winner in the final against Argentina. He was part of the Spain side that lifted the trophy and secured the world title.
The forward said he had repeatedly watched footage of his goal in the final, although he admitted he could not fully remember how he produced it during the match.
“I have watched my goal against Argentina countless times, a thousand times,” he said.
“When I finished the match, I could not remember the goal. I feel as if I lost my mind while running and looking at my face, but I do not remember how I scored it. I cannot describe that moment in words.”
His comments come amid continuing uncertainty over his club future. Although Torres stressed that he has a contract with Barcelona, he also acknowledged that circumstances in football can change, leaving open the possibility of a move during the season ahead.
Asked about his dream club, Torres did not name a particular side. Instead, he said that happiness would be the deciding factor.
“My dream club? Wherever I feel happy,” he said.
The 2026 World Cup final has therefore become a defining moment in Torres’ recent career. His decisive goal against Argentina delivered the trophy to Spain and has since been replayed by the player himself on numerous occasions.
However, despite the international success and the attention surrounding his performance, Torres has not committed publicly to a specific next step at club level. His current position is that he remains a Barcelona player while he considers what is best for his future.
The reports linking him with Paris Saint-Germain add to the interest around his situation, but no decision has been announced. For now, Torres says he is waiting before determining whether his career will continue at Barcelona or take him elsewhere.
The interview was published on Monday, 3 August 2026.
